Plant-based vs Vegan - what's the difference?
For us, plant-based refers to what you eat. If you eat a plant-based diet, you don't eat anything from animals, including meat, egg, dairy, honey, gelatin, etc. Your meals consist of veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains. You also aim to eat as wholesome as possible, so you avoid highly refined foods like bleached flour, refined sugar and low-quality oils.
We view veganism as being more than what you eat – it’s a complete lifestyle. If you’re vegan, you avoid all forms of exploitation of and cruelty to animals for food, clothing or any other purpose. You eat a plant-based diet as well as refrain from using leather, wool or products tested on animals.
Is Veganism a loss or a gain?
Simply stated, we believe animals are not food. We live in a time when (in most places around the world) eating animals is not critical for survival and using precious lands for animal-food production hurts all of life more than it nurtures it. The food industry, therefore, is separate from the meat industry. The meat industry uses and creates toxins that are then absorbed into our bodies, minds, and planet’s atmosphere. Making vegan-based choices creates the opportunity to get creative, enjoy guilt-free products, and contribute to a safer and more prosperous earth for generations to come. Instead of losing our health and our planet, we gain longer, healthier lives for ourselves and our children.
